Art Styling Ideas No. 1

I spend a lot of time thinking about how the act of making art is loaded with meaning for me—I research plants and ecosystems, analyze color, explore seasons both in nature and my own life, come up with research questions and make plans for series that search for potential answers. I think a lot about working with chronic pain and what that means for my life and my art practice. But I also love thinking about beauty and how we make space for the things we love in our homes and in our daily lives.

Though I don’t see my artwork as purely decorative, I do aim to create something beautiful that brings the beauty and wonder I find in nature into a gallery space or a home. For a period in college, I wanted to be an interior designer. I ended up falling in love with art history and pursuing that instead, but my interest in architectural and interior design has never faded. I’ve been known to spend hours making design boards for my apartments and designing floor plans for imaginary future homes. Naturally, I was compelled to put some of my artwork into inspiration boards.

I could see this becoming a series that I revisit now and then. I would love to experiment more with colorful paint/wallpaper pairings. I hope you enjoy this first iteration of Art Styling Ideas. :)
